2-point

I feel like I nearly went cross-eyed doing all the detail work in this line drawing for Perspective. Thankfully this is the last assignment we have to shade.

In progress:

Anatomy sketches

This woman had such an interesting face - I'm glad I was able to capture it before the pose was over.
I just wish I could've finished rendering her feet.

Happy Halloween!

I know it's not quite Halloween yet, but I wanted to post this as soon as it was done. It's been a while since I've done a holiday sketch, and with the arrival of HTTYD on DVD I felt inspired.

Cookie points to anyone and everyone who gets the joke behind Toothless' costume. :3

how it happens

In-progress videos for my portrait of my sister and the drawing of me and Toothless.

Perspective

This is why I hate isometric perspective.

One-point is much better.

In-progress:

Bouncing Balls - Character

I might as well put them in one post now. First- and second-passes of a character-based bouncing ball exercise.

Bouncing Balls

A series of bouncing ball tests, all using different materials.
The bowling ball is my favorite.

Old Videos

Told you they were coming in a later post. :)

This was a project back in Cleveland; it was a really cool class where we actually animated from live models.

Stop-motion animation videos:

This was the first assignment; a basic clay test.

Puppet animation. I actually had a ton of fun making the puppet and animating it.

Lip-sync.

This was the final for Experimental Animation. It was the only thing I wanted to work on by the end of the semester. The name was inspired by a Relient k song called 'I Celebrate the Day.' By the grace of God, I was able to do so much with it, and I was so happy with how it turned out.

This was the midterm reel for my CAPS (Computer Animation Production) class.

Final in CAPS. Sorry it's such low-quality; I lost the HQ version.

This was the final project in my Maya 1 class. It was inspired - and a tribute - to my sister, who loves dance.

Cats

I keep drawing kitties during class - I wish I had a story for all these cats I keep drawing.

Business card I'm developing for Careers in Animation. This is actually the second pass, but I like it so much better than the first I'm not gonna post the first. :)

Anatomy 2

Anatomy drawings part 2. My professor wanted me to add more dimension to my drawings.

this is what I do during class

Aside from, y'know, actual classwork.

Contemplating my Halloween future. I had an idea for a costume and actually found it for a pretty good price online, and then I re-watched 'James and the Giant Peach' with my roommate and went 'oh man, a costume inspired by the Centipede would be SWEET.' Now I'm weighing the pros and cons of each.

See, this is what happens when the artist in me meets the logical part of my brain.

Doodles.

Wow, I already have enough posts to warrant an 'Older Posts' link... I guess my roommate is right, blogging is addictive. XD

Some stuff I did during class. Getting into the Halloween spirit.

Also, yay for 90s pop boy bands. X3

Dragons

Atmospheric perspective assignment; second big assignment in my Perspective class.
I actually had a lot of fun with it. I think this had to do in big part because of the subject matter, and the fact that I could go back to pencil work instead of markers. X3

Also, it looks, like, a hundred times better than my original concept because my professor really knows what he's talking about.

Face Time

This past week's Anatomy class was all about the face. It was great - she explained it in a way I've never really been shown before, and I feel like it really changed the way I approach the face in general.

This was actually a 40-minute full-body sketch, but the only part I ended up being really happy about was the face.

This quick sketch doesn't really look like the model, but I included it because I got the chance to capture a really great, fleeting emotion on the guy's face.

Also, here are some poses that I kind of liked.
